Greetings!

Until the day I realized I'd been neglecting the most important person - me.

That may sound selfish so... let me explain.

As a coach, I enjoy helping people triple their incomes and putting tons of FUN back into their lives.

But, I'm not gonna kid you. It takes a lot of energy. I'm away from my family more than I'd like. (I take LOTS of vacations but if I had my way, I'd be with them ALL the time!) And, there are some nights when I just collapse into bed at the end of a long day wishing I could sleep for a week.

Before I knew better, I'd just get up the next day and charge back into life.

Then I discovered the value of looking after me. And giving to myself.
You see, if we spend all our time looking after others first without giving ourselves a reward from time to time, eventually we will burn out.

We won't be able to summon the energy and make the money we need to help others.

Just the other day I was speaking to a past client whose brother-in-law is a relatively new trade-contractor. My advice to her, for her brother-in-law, is to join an Association. Some of the obvious benefits are not so obvious to everyone, but one of the biggest benefits is that your Association spends time you simply don't have to lobby the government, be it at the Municipal, Provincial or Federal level ... and often all 3.

I was feeling anxious sitting on the fence on this decision. This session has given me a lot of clarity on moving forward with this big step that will definitely grow the business. How much do you LOVE to struggle?

I've been hearing a common theme lately ... with clients and prospects alike. In fact, it's something I became acutely aware of in myself, thanks to working with my mentor.

I was just speaking with a client and through all of his resistance and explanations and justifications and rationalizations, I heard that the reason why they've been in business for 20 years ... with "success" still eluding them ... is because

I know this, because I was falling into it myself.

Now, here's another conversation I had earlier today with a client.

He's not happy with the number of hours he's been working over the last 2 weeks and he has a big project that needs to be finished before snow flies. Inside of 1/2 an hour he was reunited with an idea he had had ... and once we fleshed that out, he said: I love that idea! My response: It's your idea. You just neglected to make it a DECISION by taking IMMEDIATE action on it.

He then said: Wow! This is great! You've made me SMILE! You've just solved all the world's problems. THANKS.

2 different people -- same conversation. They were both STRUGGLING. One is IN LOVE with STRUGGLING and won't let it go ... while the other is IN LOVE with having FUN, SMILING, GROWING his Business, enjoying increased PROFITS ... and doesn't want to let that go.

We receive 10-fold what we give! The Law of Reciprocity

In our upbringing we've heard What goes around comes around. What you give you get. What you sow, so shall you reap.

In my studies of various religions many years ago, that was a common thread that ran through all of them and where numbers were used I read:

Whatever you give out comes back to you 10-fold.

I've shared this with 1,000s of people since becoming consciously aware of it, and especially with my entrepreneurial clients since becoming a Business Success Coach in 2003. As an example, I teach that, knowing this, it's better to stay focused on giving out GOOD, even GREAT energy, rather than the opposite ... because when you put out positive energy, you receive that back 10-fold. Hence, when you send out crap, you receive that back 10-fold, too. You choose.

As entrepreneurs we're always giving to our clients. My recent studies have taught me: In a direct exchange we must always give more than we receive, even in the exchange with clients/customers.

I, too, was perplexed. How do we make a profit if we give more than we're paid for?

It's quite simple. We must give more in use value than what we receive in financial value. Well, that's a done deal in most cases. My HVAC clients, for example, sell & install furnaces and air conditioners. Whatever they receive in money from their customers is very little in relation to the long-term enjoyment of comfortable, clean climate-controlled air.

Similarly, my custom homes builder clients give far more in use value (enjoyment & pleasure) to their home buyers than the money they receive.

Etc.

DONATIONS are another way of giving and that's not always easy. There are so many organizations out there asking us for money, yet not all of them seem to have the same ethics we do. It takes little effort to find just the right organization once you make the decision.

I strongly encourage you to donate regularly and generously if you don't already.

Why? Well, for 1 reason, because we receive 10-fold what we give.

About 6 months ago I started "lending" to entrepreneurs in developing countries ... and the "feel-good" factor is enormous! Each time I lend to someone new, it's absolutely thrilling. This isn't donating, and I'm already receiving repayment from many of the borrowers (which I immediately enjoy lending to others - it's like the donation that keeps donating). To me, this is helping these entrepreneurs, not taking care of them. Helping people in other countries and continents doesn't speak to everyone, and that's fine.

Helping people in our own countries is also huge, also leaving us with an enormous feel-good factor. My point in talking about this is ... the giving. Not only do you receive back 10 times the joy that the people receiving the help enjoy, but it also works that the money you give (when given unconditionally - with no expectations of return) comes back to you 10-fold.

That seems like a paradox, I know. It may seem like the giving, therefore, could be done in order to receive 10-fold the money back. Well, here's the paradox: It only comes back 10-fold IF/WHEN you give with no expectation of receiving anything in return.

If you already give freely ... you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's cool, eh?

And here's another organization with which I very recently became affiliated and this one is a donation. It was one of those things that just spoke to me. When I learned of it, I simply went to their website and donated. In fact, as you'll see, I set up my own "page" because I just KNEW that I would want to spread the word and start a movement about this project. You can read why by clicking on this link. It may ... or may not ... speak to you. If it does, you don't have to spend the time & effort to start your own page, you can donate on mine. You, too, can start your own movement and spread the word to everyone you know.

There are many great causes out there ... in every country. I'm merely suggesting you consciously use the Law of Reciprocity to your benefit, and the benefit of others.
